Lauren Kujawa's Introduction

Hello Everyone,

My name is Lauren Kujawa and I am a senior majoring in Civil and Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Digital Building.  Over my three co-ops I have used AutoCAD and MicroStation, but I have also used Revit throughout my years at Drexel.  I have also taken the INFO 210 course that focuses on databases and database analysis.  I have more experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit than with databases, however I consider myself fluent in Excel.

I expect to better my Revit and database skills while also learning about the technologies that are being developed to make buildings more "intelligent."  Similarly, I found the article titled "The world's most sustainable building is also the smartest" to be the most interesting article I came across.  The article detailed Deloitte's Amsterdam Headquarters, which has 30,000 sensors that control many aspects of the building.  To me, this is what I consider an intelligent building.  When I first hear that term, I often think of a house that has "smart" features, including a Nest thermostat, controlled lighting, etc.  Intelligent buildings take these housing aspects and apply them to larger scale commercial developments.
