Our group believes that robotics and artificial intelligence is not all that relevant currently to the building design or construction industry.
Regarding design, we feel that the human element is greater than anything an AI could provide. Currently, robots do not have the capability to think creatively and independently. Humans on the other hand, can be inspired by something and can come up with a completely new design. Also, an AI can not replace the face to face design meetings with the owner to figure out his or her needs, like an architect can.
For construction, currently robots are used in a limited manner to assist tradespeople. Their role most likely will increase in scope as time goes on, but their relevance is limited as of today.
