Quelly Wk 2-1: Define Intelligent Building(s)

My Definition of Intelligent Building(s):

Intelligent Buildings are structures that can autonomously make observations about it's performance (energy consumption, indoor air quality, comfort levels, lighting, public health and safty) in order to modify it's operation to find the most optimal perimeters (set by us, the end user).

Notes:

smart v.s. intelligent
"Jarvis" ?
Performance being better by using tech.
efficiency, use and adapting to it
safety?
going to get better over time - adaptable in ways that we can't predict, so we leave it open for future changes or advancements - simple and easier to use.

focuses on computer technology is being utilized more and more throughout the entire life-cycle of the building, and the computer will take over for people by learning what to do. (doesn't have to be cheaper, energy efficiency, as long as it is is better at adapting to what it needs to do.)

futurist - predicts the future for a living.
scenario planning
Moore's law & trend analysis
Asamov's psychohistory of  - Foundation series - Hari Seldon  - reasonable approximation of the behavior of groups of people.
2005 prediction f thee future - British telecom by Ian Neild
we don't get it right on all predictions. - it is becoming more and more important so we should start to keep track now of where we are and where we are going.
